Welcome to Georgia Superior Courts
The Superior Courts of Georgia is a court of general jurisdiction handling both civil and criminal law actions. Superior Court Judges preside over cases involving misdemeanors, contract disputes, premises liability, and various other actions. In addition, the Superior Court has exclusive equity jurisdiction over all cases of divorce, title to land, and felonies involving jury trials, including death penalty cases.

Attached please find the order of the Supreme Court extending its orders clarifying and/or amending Uniform Superior Court Rule 9. 1 and Rule 9.2, as well as the video conferencing rules of other classes of court, through June 30, 2023.

Each year, the Council of Superior Court Judges recognizes deserving judges with the distinguished Emory Findley Award. The award, named after the late Judge Emory Findley, recognizes judges for their outstanding leadership and dedication to the continued improvement of our court system. This year’s recipients were the Honorable Judge Doris L. Downs of the Atlanta Judicial Circuit and the Honorable Judge H. Gibbs Flanders of the Dublin Circuit. (more…)

Rebecca Rieder was sworn in as a superior court judge by Gov. Nathan Deal on November 7th, 2018. Judge Rieder will serve in the Atlanta Judicial Circuit, filling a vacancy created by the retiring of Judge Doris Downs. (more…)
